Good news for Mangalore commuters: Some KSRTC buses now have UPI scanners. Pay digitally, skip the exact change hassle. Here's what you need to know.
Good news for Mangalore commuters: Some KSRTC buses now have UPI scanners. Conductors can accept digital payments on the spot.
No more searching for exact change.
What Changed
Select KSRTC buses may have a UPI payment scanner at the conductor's stand.
How it works:
- Board the bus
- Tell conductor your destination
- Conductor shows fare on the machine
- Tap your phone on the scanner or scan QR code
- Payment done instantly
- Get your digital ticket
That's it. No cash needed.
Why This is Useful
Before: You need exact change. If you only have ₹100 for a ₹20 ticket, conductor has to find change. Takes time, annoying.
Now: Just tap UPI. Takes 30 seconds. No change needed.
Important: Not All Buses Have It Yet
✅ Only some KSRTC buses have UPI scanners
❌ Not all routes
What to do:
When you board, ask the conductor: "Kya UPI machine hai?" (Do you have UPI machine?)
If yes → You can pay via UPI
If no → Carry cash
Who This Helps
- No exact change? Just tap UPI
- Don't want to carry cash? Use UPI instead
- Want digital proof? You get a ticket on your phone
Private buses still don't have this. Only KSRTC so far.
What You Need
- A smartphone with UPI app (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, etc.)
- Your UPI ID linked to your bank
- That's all
Next Time You Travel
- Ask conductor: "UPI machine hai?"
- If yes: Tap your phone when he shows the fare
- If no: Carry change like before
- Get ticket (digital or paper)
Simple. Easy. No stress about change.
The Bottom Line
KSRTC is going digital. Conductors now have UPI scanners on some buses. If your bus has one, use it. No need to carry exact change anymore.
